What We Believe

What We’re About

At Oasis Church, we are deeply committed to the eternal values of the Christian faith. We believe that the Christian faith isn’t about religion, but about a relationship with Jesus. And through this relationship we have a vision of being a biblically functioning community of believers so that Christ’s purposes can be accomplished through this world. And the way that we do that is by always giving you a next step to explore spiritual things and discover what it means to be a fully devoted follower of Jesus.

The Things We Believe…

1. About God

“There is one and only one living and true God. God is the creator, ruler, and sustainer of the universe. God is infinite in all perfections. He has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.”

(see: Genesis 1:1, 26, 27, 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

2. About People

“People were created by God after God’s own spiritual image. People are the highest work of God’s creation. Being made in the image of God, people have enormous potential for good, but have freely chosen to disobey God and go against God’s will for their life. Their disobedience and rebellion is called sin, and is an attitude and lifestyle that separates people from God. All individuals suffer from this corruption and are in need of the saving grace of God. People were created to exist forever. They will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. Death seals the eternal destiny of each person. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.”

(see: Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Matthew 1:8, 2:44, 46; John 3:16, 2:25, 5:11-13; Romans 3:23, 6:23; Revelation 20:15)

3. About Jesus Christ

“Christ is the eternal Son of God. He is co-equal with God. In His incarnation, Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Fully man yet fully God, He lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all persons by dying on a cross. He arose bodily from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory where He sits at the right hand of God the Father, and will return again to Earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.”

(see: Matthew 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14-15; Titus 2:13)

4. About Salvation

“Salvation is a free gift from God to people. The barrier between people and God, caused by sin, can never be repaired by human effort alone. The salvation of any individual is wholly a work of God’s grace, not human effort, and must be personally received through repentance and faith. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can people be saved from the consequences of sin. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into their life by faith. All true believers can be secure in their salvation for eternity, for it is maintained by the grace and power of God.”

(see: Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6, 1:12, 10:29, Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1; 2 Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25, 10:10, 14; 1 Peter 1:3-5)

5. About the Holy Spirit

“The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He lives within every Christian from the moment of salvation. The Holy Spirit provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Holy Spirit uniquely endows every believer with gifts for building up of the body. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily.”

(see: 2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13, 5:18, Galatians 5:25)

6. About the Bible

“The Bible was written by individuals who were supernaturally inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Bible contains the record of God’s revelation of Himself to human beings. It is the ultimate source of truth for Christian life and thought and is the final authority on all matters of faith and practice. Because it has God for its author, the Bible contains truth without any mixture of error. There are no other writings equally inspired by God.”

(see: 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; 1 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105, 160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5)

7. About the Church

“The Christian’s union with Christ is reflected in their union with Christ’s Body, the church. The nature of the church is revealed through the biblical images of family, body, fellowship, and flock. Scripture commands believers to gather together for worship, prayer, teaching of the Word, observance of baptism and the Lord’s Supper, fellowship, ministry through the development and use of talents and gifts, and outreach to the world. Under the leadership of the pastors and other supportive leadership, its members are to work together in love and unity to the glory of Christ.”

(see: Acts 2:42-47; Matthew 22: 36-40, 28:19-20; John 4:23-24, 13:35; Ephesians 3:10; Hebrews 6:1; 2 Peter 3:18; Romans 10:13-14)
